"Nature in Chiapas knows no limits; it overflows in countless animals and plants, in the power of a river, in the roar of a waterfall or the chilling depths of a canyon. The spectacular geography seems to compete with the beauty of its archaeological zones, the cultural richness of its indigenous communities and the elegance of its colonial cities. An unforgettable adventure, not exempt from magic, taste and colour; an approach to the exuberant nature, or an encounter with the grassroots of the old pre Hispanic cultures, are part of the charms in Chiapas, a state of imposing vegetation and tumultuous rivers located in the south of Mexico."
To talk about Chiapas is to talk about one of the most biological diverse regions in the world. The lush green fields, forests and jungles, the fresh air, the unique flora and fauna, rare species and much more, make up this beautiful state.
Travelling from one destination to another is even an experience as many roads wind their way around foreboding mountains, canyons and valleys. The Chiapas is rugged territory reminiscent of the Rocky Mountains in some locations and the Amazon Rainforest in others. In a single day you can travel from one biodiverse area to a completely different one
The colorful landscape, ethnic groups, fiestas, traditions and food, form an intricate mosaic. Visitors are astonished to find that a single territory contains both great nature and experience.
Chiapas, a state in the southeast of Mexico, is full of contrasts. Its geographical and cultural diversity, complex history, natural richness and variety of ethnic groups make it one of the country´s most attractive tourist destinations.
Chiapas is virtually synonymous with nature. This green strip of Mexico contains one of the most complex biotic diversities in the country. It has mountain ranges, rivers, volcanoes, plains, canyons, waterfalls, lakes, cloud forests, coast and savannah. Much of its territory is considered a nature reserve, and supports an astonishing range of flora and fauna. Its attractions include archaeological sites, colonial cities, nature reserves, Indian communities, beaches and places for engaging in open-air sports and ecotourism.
It has two of the largest, most spectacular rivers in the country, the Grijalva and the Usumacinta.
